Right presently I got a hot OEM processor, but I don't have any thermal compound to use. Is within anything else that I can use? My neighbor said that I could use a thin level of silicone grease, would that work?
What is an alternate solution to thermal compound? IE, CPU HELP?
Most likely you could, but you hold to ask yourself if it is worth the risk of frying your new cpu. You are probably better sour buying some silver based compound from NewEgg or my favorite, TigerDirect. I don't forsee you have to pay any more than $5-$7 for the righteous stuff but Ive picked some up from TigerDirect for as low as a buck and it worked really well too.
While on topic, I would probaly also suggest a devout cpu fan, namely one beside a copper base. Zalman and Thermaltake are two name I always look for.
possibly but no where on earth near as fitting as thermal paste, you can get hold of some for like 5 dollars at most computer complicated ware stores, you really need some or you could deface your new CPU. I would use artic silver
I would keep on until you can get some thermal bond. You will burn up your processor at worst. But your motherboard will shut the computer down more than likely past that will happen. So you would be wasting your time anyways and will net more work for yourself tomorrow.
probaly not and if it did it would still make your cpu temps immensely very big and why risk it when you can just be not idle and cheap and drive up to a electronic store and get thermal bond for $5
