What is the best dvd burnimg drive i can buy?
Just saw in CompUSA the HP 1040i 20x (yes, 20x) DVD burner. That's faster than anything currently on the open market. :) Everybody else is 18x or slower.
they all burn duplicate quality- although some have faster burn speeds than others and some are more reliable than others. right immediately i have a sony DVD-RW DRU-810A and it does everything i needed it to, it can burn cds, dvds and dual layer dvds. earlier that i had a Lite-On dvd burner and it stopped working after give or take a few a year of owning it. So i recommend not getting lite on

wow ive never heard that beforehand; i never would have bought a sony drive if i know it was lite on... hopefully it keep working, ive only burned a couple dvds earlier, i use it mostly to watch dvds
Look within the brands of NEC, LG, and Samsung. These are, in my inference, the most versatile and reliable DVD Burners. Stay away from the Sony and Pioneers. Even though these are more common, I have have countless problems with them contained by the computers I've installed them into (which is why I don't use them anymore.)
I'll just donate an aside to kh1116: Sony DVD drives ARE Lite-On drives, it's lucky your Sony drive hasn't died. MY sony DVD drive would ONLY burn on Sony CD/DVDs, and eventually, after about a year, it stopped burning time! I've had this NEC for 2 years, and momma mia! I can burn anything, anytime.
