They promised it would be out by 2007, and TDK I believe have come up with their disk... does anyone use it? Too expensive? Why is it nowhere contained by the news?
What's happen to HVD?
Two technology that use the acronym HVD. First one is High-Definition Versatile Disc, the one I think you are referring to. It is used within Asia a lot, but elsewhere have been largely disregarded. Very few DVD players will support the format, therefore abundant people would own to get latest players to use it. HD-DVD and Blu-Ray are both better, therefore those are the two modern formats that have taken past its sell-by date, leaving HVD bringing up the rear.
The other is Holographicd Versatile Disc, which I doubt is what you are talking roughly because it is still a few years away from being middle-of-the-road. The are suppose to hold up to almost 4 Terabytes of information. The costs right now are still incredibly soaring, with players self around $15000, and discs over $100 a piece. You want see those become mainstream until prices become tolerable, which will be a while.
VHD was not a great nouns as a consumer product, but the system sold well for the applications discussed above. VHD have something of a cult following in Japan, and discs and players are both still collected
