What is the difference between DVD+R and RW's and DVD-R and RW's?

What is the difference between DVD+R and RW's and DVD-R and RW's?

Hi bubbliebub,

RW simply method it is rewriteable. You can use it much like an weak floppy. You can add and remove as desired.

As far as the +/- designation. (Incidentally that is to say Plus R and Dash R. The DVD+R and DVD-R are competing formats much like the hoary VHS and Beta formats in video tape. Today most drives are Hybrid and handle both formats. They are usually labeled DVD+/-R

The souk for recordable DVD technology shows little sign of settling down in favor of any the plus or dash formats, which is mostly the result of the increasing numbers of dual-format devices that can dictation to both formats; it has become incredibly difficult to find new devices that can simply record to one of the formats. However, because the DVD-R format have been within use since 1997, it has have a five-year lead on DVD+R. As such, elder or cheaper DVD players (up to 2004 vintage) are more likely to favor the DVD-R standard exclusively, and when creating DVD’s for distribution (where the playing element is unknown or older) the DVD-R format would normally be preferable.

My personal experience have led me towards using the +R. It is slightly better at error handling so more tolerant of dirty or worn out media and also more tolerant to the subtle differences between players.

Norm
ably for the - and the +, they mean like thing. r manner you can only write to the disc once while rw medium you can write to it as many times as you craving
No difference. It's mainly basically a format war going on for the ending 5 years or so. Some older DVD players simply read 1 type of it so you'll want to test that back buying a spindle of 100
