The difference is probably within the chipset, bus speed, acceptable processor etc.



The best bet is to pick a CPU and work backwards ensure that the mb is compatible with it .. once you own done that then compare features and see which give the most for your $$$

478 is mostly the elder intel P4 processors with pins. 474 is BGA which is totally different.
They lug different processors.
