What is the difference between a 2.5 and 3.5 rugged drive?

I enjoy some hard drives (in tower case) that are in principle old (2-3 years) so I believe they are the usual IDE/PATA kind, but not exactly sure what the dimensions are.



Is 2.5 for laptops and 3.5 for towers? Would this mean I hold 3.5 if they are in my mid-tower armour?

The dimensions for laptops are 2.5 and pc computers/desktops are 3.5 and yes they are 3.5 within mid tower case (cases are freshly different heights same widths)

In adjectives likelihood, yes.
2.5 = Laptops

3.5 = Desktop (towers)
